Assistant Category Manager

At Coles Express, we're looking for a skilled Assistant Category Manager to join our Viva Energy Retail Merchandise team. As a key member of our team, you'll be responsible for managing the Drinks and Dairy category, as well as supporting various projects across the business.
You'll work closely with our Business Category Manager to drive profitable category sales, maintain strong supplier relationships, and support our customer-centric category strategy.
- Manage forecasting and range reviews to ensure optimal category performance.
- Collect, input, and maintain all category data, including promotional systems, data systems, and new lines.
- Deliver against the overall category strategy, executing pricing, promotion, range selection, and layout development.
- Develop strong supplier relationships to effectively partner and execute goals.
As a successful candidate, you'll have experience working within an FMCG and/or retail environment, with strong knowledge of the merchandising function and processes. You'll also need:
- Strong organisational skills and ability to plan ahead to support the category's unique needs.
- Prior experience with promotional and trade planning.
- Exceptional stakeholder management with the ability to work closely and influence internal and external stakeholders to achieve objectives.
- Strong commercial acumen with experience applying this to interpret industry dynamics and competitive retail landscape.
- Strong analytical skills demonstrated through proactively sourcing customer insights and data to formulate category recommendations.
- Experience working within cross-functional teams to manage and execute projects.
