About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Cyber Risk Underwriter to join our team at AXA XL. As a Cyber Risk Underwriter, you will play a critical role in delivering a profitable underwriting service to our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review complex submissions, including applications, policy wording, inspection reports, loss runs, and financial reports, to determine the degree of risk for each account.
  • Calculate appropriate risk premiums by considering risk costs, reinsurance cessions, and underwriting and general administration costs, ensuring profitability.
  • Proactively advise, assist, and service clients on insurance and risk management matters to ensure satisfaction and fulfillment of their insurance requirements.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with brokers and clients to initiate opportunities for cross-selling and ensure account retention.
  • In coordination with other internal teams, determine appropriate reinsurance for risk placements on an excess of loss and quota share basis.
  • Support the business planning and forecasting process, monitor financial exposure within outlined limits, and ensure premium income remains within set limits.
  • Maintain awareness of all claims advised and provide input on settlement of claims.
  • Collaborate with underwriters, underwriting assistants, and management teams to achieve business objectives.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred, with equivalent experience in the relevant class of business.
  • Ability to perform tasks according to established procedures, with discretion to exercise judgment.
  • Use of analytical skills to identify and solve day-to-day problems in straightforward situations.
  • Marketing skills to plan for sales and business development, integrating various techniques, tools, and information to support profitable business growth.
  • Negotiation and sales skills to plan, structure, and conduct negotiations with brokers and clients to reach outcomes that gain support and acceptance.
  • Interpersonal skills to build excellent relationships with brokers, clients, and colleagues, improving personal profile and reputation within AXA XL and the broader market.
  • Strategy and planning skills to make underwriting decisions that fulfill business strategic plans and deliver results.
  • Industry knowledge to understand the insurance industry and specific product portfolios, positively impacting underwriting business by improving technical and functional knowledge.
