About This Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Parliamentary Support Officer.

  • Provide exceptional customer service and reception support within the Parliamentary Precinct, managing the switchboard, greeting visitors, and issuing visitor passes.
  • Demonstrate proactive sales assistance in the Parliament House Gift Shop.
  • Conduct informative tours of the Parliamentary Precinct for members of the public.
  • Support the Parliamentary Security Service to ensure the security of the building and personal safety of Members, staff, and visitors.

To be successful in this position, you will need:

  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact effectively with diverse people.
  • Excellent customer service skills with a friendly and professional manner.
  • Sound knowledge of the parliamentary process and its history or a willingness to learn.
  • Able to work under pressure with a flexible approach to work.
  • A high level of integrity and respect for confidentiality.
  • A current Working with Children Blue Card or a willingness to obtain one.

Key Responsibilities

Reception Duties: Providing a first point of contact for visitors, answering phone calls, and directing enquiries. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

CUSTOMER SERVICE: Delivering exceptional customer experiences through proactive sales assistance and providing tailored product recommendations.

Guided Tours: Conducting informative tours of the Parliamentary Precinct, highlighting key features and attractions.

Security Support: Collaborating with the Parliamentary Security Service to maintain a safe and secure environment for all stakeholders.
