Job Description

The Communicable Disease Prevention Unit is responsible for preventing and controlling communicable diseases within Tasmania. Our team actively engages with the public and collaborates closely with stakeholders to prevent and respond effectively to notifiable diseases.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide high-level epidemiological expertise and facilitate the development of surveillance systems, including negotiating access to data and relationships with entities supplying data.
  • Identify health intelligence needs and lead the collection, analysis, interpretation, and reporting of communicable disease surveillance data, including identifying trends and clusters of disease.
  • Lead or participate in investigations of disease outbreaks and subsequent control activities.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A postgraduate qualification in epidemiology or biostatistics or a postgraduate qualification in Public Health.
  • Registration/licences that are essential requirements of this role must remain current and valid at all times whilst employed in this role.
