Job Title: Koorie Education and Community Liaison Officer

Overview:

  • This role supports the Department of Education in its mission to promote education and wellbeing for all Victorians.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will work closely with key support services, schools, and government agencies to provide education advice and support for Koorie children and young people who are coming into the Children's Courts.

The liaison officer will be required to travel to various locations throughout North Western Victoria Region to provide referral assistance for young people appearing before the Court.

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong understanding of Koorie culture, education, and community needs, as well as excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

You will also need to be able to build and maintain strategic relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels, and have experience in supporting schools and/or Koorie young people 'at-risk' or engaging with the criminal justice system.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide education advice and support for Koorie children and young people;
  • Work collaboratively with key support services, schools, and government agencies;
  • Travel to various locations throughout North Western Victoria Region;
  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with internal and external stakeholders;
  • Have experience in supporting schools and/or Koorie young people 'at-risk' or engaging with the criminal justice system.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of Koorie culture, education, and community needs;
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills;
  • Ability to build and maintain strategic relationships with internal and external stakeholders;
  • Experience in supporting schools and/or Koorie young people 'at-risk' or engaging with the criminal justice system;
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
