
Family Care Specialist

We are seeking a Family Care Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing and supporting carers who provide care to children and young people in out-of-home care placements.
About the RoleThe role involves facilitating the recruitment and assessment process of carer applicants, ensuring that assessments are completed in accordance with our organisation's standards and procedures.
- Responding to enquiries from prospective carers and maintaining contact during the consideration phase
- Conducting initial phone interviews and supporting carers through required training
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Demonstrated experience and skill in undertaking child-focused assessments in a child and family welfare setting
- Significant case work experience in the child and family field from a strengths-based, culturally appropriate perspective
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience with the CARE model of therapeutic care or similar trauma-informed models
- Ability to identify areas of concern within a foster care and/or disability home-based care environment
- Recognised social work qualifications with eligibility for membership of the AASW or other relevant qualification with significant case work experience
