Design and Deliver State-of-the-Art Railcars

We are seeking skilled professionals to join our team in the Queensland Train Manufacturing Program (QTMP). As part of Downer Rail & Transit Systems, we are a leading rail business in Australia with expertise in delivering whole-life asset management support.

The QTMP involves designing, manufacturing, and maintaining 65 new six-car passenger trains for Cross River Rail and the 2032 Brisbane Olympic and Paralympic Games. These trains will be built at a state-of-the-art facility in Torbanlea on the Fraser Coast.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform mechanical assembly tasks including torquing, bolting, piping, component, and equipment installation, panel fitting, and door assembly in accordance with detailed work instructions.
  • Operate materials handling equipment safely and efficiently to support assembly processes.
  • Conduct mechanical testing and fault finding.

Successful candidates will hold a Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade or Equivalent and possess knowledge of mechanical rollingstock systems, manufacturing processes, and specialised equipment from production through to mechanical testing and commissioning. In-depth understanding of manufacturing best practices, ability to dismantle, replace, assemble, and fit mechanical and engineering components, experience in hydraulic systems is advantageous.
