About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Development Compliance Officer to join our team at Inner West Council. As a key member of our Development Compliance team, you will play a critical role in ensuring that development projects in our area comply with relevant legislation and regulations.

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of environmental planning and assessment, as well as experience in conducting audits and inspections. You will be responsible for ensuring that all works are conducted to a high standard, and that regulatory enforcement is carried out in accordance with legislation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Team Leader to achieve the Strategic Community & Operation Plan deliverables.
  • Undertake proactive audits and inspections in accordance with Council's development compliance programs.
  • Ensure all works are conducted to a high standard and regulatory enforcement is carried out in accordance with legislation.
Requirements
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field such as town planning, building surveying, environmental management, or building construction.
  • Detailed understanding and knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 and the Protection of the Environment Operations Act 1997.
  • Proven ability to work in a team environment and independently, with excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • NSW Class C Driver's Licence.
  • Knowledge and understanding of EEO, Ethical Practice & WH&S principles.
