Practice Manager Job Description

The Practice Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of our practice, ensuring everything runs efficiently and effectively.

This critical role requires exceptional organisational, leadership, and communication skills to oversee Dermatologists and staff while driving business growth and development.

  • Oversee all business operations within the Practice, including Human Resources, IT, WH&S, Insurance, financial management, and reporting.
  • Prepare and maintain staff/dermatologist rosters to meet practice needs.
  • Manage office systems and processes, including filing systems, office equipment, and policies.
  • Monitor office supplies/inventory, place orders, and oversee approval processes for supply purchases.
  • Coordinate employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, training, development, and termination.
  • Ensure accurate and timely payroll preparation and processing. Maintain compliance with wage laws, award interpretation, superannuation contributions, and tax obligations.
  • Maintain accurate employee records, including timesheets, leave balances, and pay rates. Liaise with external accounting firms.
  • Support budget planning and monitor payroll-related expenses to ensure alignment with financial goals. Assist in audits and payroll reporting.
  • Implement and update practice billing to ensure correct MBS item setup and charging.
  • Organise staff meetings and other required meetings.
  • Prepare and present regular reports as needed.
  • Cover receptionist duties when required.
  • Ensure Work Health and Safety compliance.
