Emergency Veterinarian Job Description

We are seeking an experienced emergency veterinarian to join our team in Melbourne. As a key member of our multi-disciplinary team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality patient care and working collaboratively with other specialty services.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Deliver exceptional patient care through consultation, examination, diagnosis, treatment, and management of emergency cases
  • Collaborate with our critical care team to manage complex patients and develop treatment plans
  • Work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team, including specialists in emergency and critical care, internal medicine, surgery, diagnostic imaging, neurology, and anaesthesia
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with referring veterinarians and veterinary specialists
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of clinical protocols and guidelines
  • Participate in continuing education and professional development opportunities

Requirements:

  • At least 2 years' experience working as an emergency or general practice veterinarian
  • Experience working in a busy multi-disciplinary hospital is highly regarded
  • Ability to work a sustainable roster, including day, night, and evening shifts, with 1:3 weekends and some public holidays
  • Comfortable working sole charge and managing routine emergency presentations
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new situations and technologies
