Job Overview

The Steel Fabrication Manager is a key leadership position within our operations, responsible for overseeing the steel fabrication process from workshop to project sites.

This role requires a strong technical and commercial background, with experience in managing teams and driving productivity improvements.

The successful candidate will be based in Lae, Papua New Guinea, and will be provided with relocation assistance including accommodation, vehicle and medical cover.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage steel fabrication operations, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality products.
  • Oversee profit and loss statements, including budget preparation and cost identification.
  • Utilize advanced machinery and welding technology to achieve monthly production targets and meet delivery requirements.
  • Develop and implement improvement schemes for production processes, maintaining quality standards while minimizing reworks and defects.
  • Lead the team in preparing offers and quotations, participating in tenders and following up enquiries to convert into work orders.

Requirements and Qualifications

For this challenging role, we are seeking an experienced senior manager with a proven track record in steel fabrication and business administration.

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A minimum of 10 years' experience in a senior management position, preferably in the steel fabrication industry.
  • Qualified boilermaker to AS/NZ standards.
  • Diploma or bachelor's degree in business.
  • Strong technical and commercial skills, with ability to resolve issues practically and uphold high standards of steel fabrication and business administration.
