Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Financial Operations Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our revenue management team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our financial processes.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing assistance with the operation and management of our revenue functions, including overseeing and reporting on the progress made in reducing our rate arrears. You will also provide support on the development of policies and procedures within the revenue function, as well as administer the Fire Services Property Levy (FSPL) as per the requirements of the State Revenue Office.
Main Job Responsibilities
- Support the Manager Revenue & Procurement Services in instructing and supporting the rates staff
- Coordinate the collection of overdue rates and charges associated with debt collection
- Administer the FSPL as per the requirements of the State Revenue Office
- Ensure voters' rolls are prepared according to VEC and statutory requirements
- Administer the process for road naming requests in accordance with statutory naming requirements
- Promote a positive customer focus of the rates team and the Council
Required Skills and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A tertiary degree or diploma in a relevant field, or extensive experience in rating and valuation functions
- Experience within local government rating
- Demonstrated ability to use initiative to improve processes and deliver high-quality customer service
- Ability to manage time effectively and set priorities to achieve objectives within a timetable and with resources available
- Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated team coaching and supervisory skills
