Project Engineer Job Description

The Project Engineer will be responsible for overseeing site works, including design, quality, and EH&S, as well as corresponding documentation. This role will report to the Project Manager and work closely with the Site Manager and site team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage Quality Assurance systems in collaboration with the Project Manager and Site Manager.
  • Oversee the ITP process, ensuring third-party engineering inspections are conducted.
  • Coordinate the Design process, including collaboration between in-house design teams, supplier design teams, and client consultants.
  • Manage the drawing transmittal and approvals process.
  • Review buildability of works and work with the Project Manager and Temporary Works Design Engineers to develop solutions.
  • Read and interpret plans, drawings, and specifications, ensuring current information is communicated to the site team.
  • Review revised drawings to identify and highlight changes, communicating these to the site team while understanding implications on current activities and systems.
  • Identify design or site issues that may result in time delays and work with the Project Manager and Site Manager to find preventative solutions.
  • Manage project documentation to ensure the most current documentation is used and superseded documents are removed from active use.
  • Manage EH&S through the use of the Safety Management Plan, creating and modifying SWMS, communicating safety requirements to the site team via toolbox talk meetings, and ensuring works are carried out according to approved documentation.
Key Requirements:
  • Formal civil engineering or construction management qualification.
  • Previous construction experience in a building or civil environment (formwork, steel fixing, and concrete pump & place will be an advantage).
  • Minimum 5 years' experience.
  • RMS and B80 experience will be a distinct advantage.
  • Experience working with MS Office, MS Excel, MS Project, and Aconex.
  • Initiative and strong ability to work autonomously, independently, and with minimal supervision.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to liaise with clients and in-house teams.
  • Sound technical ability and able to read and interpret plans, drawings, & specifications and communicate information to the site team.

The head office for this role is in Western Sydney, however, projects are located across Greater Sydney.
