Mathematical Instructor Role

Job Overview:

The Mathematical Instructor is responsible for delivering mathematical instruction to students using a prescribed teaching approach. They provide exceptional customer service through a personal and prescriptive approach, attending to each individual student's needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach mathematical concepts to students using the prescribed method.
  • Evaluate and document student progress.
  • Provide positive constructive feedback to students.
  • Manage student behaviour to create a positive learning environment.
  • Communicate student needs to centre leadership and instructional staff.
  • Assist in non-teaching tasks as assigned.

Essential Characteristics:

  • Mathematics Expertise: Instructors must interact well with students and instruct clearly and concisely.
  • Engaging: Instructors inspire students to do well, establish a fun learning environment, and demonstrate enthusiasm in teaching mathematics.
  • Facilitator: Instructors facilitate student learning by evaluating and documenting progress, correcting work, and providing constructive feedback.
  • Professionalism: Instructors interact with parents, students, and co-workers in a friendly but professional manner at all times.

Primary Tasks:

  • Deliver mathematical instruction to students.
  • Monitor student performance or assist students in a learning centre environment.
  • Use multiple instruction methodologies such as team teaching.
  • Provide feedback to students using positive reinforcement techniques.
  • Manage student behaviour and intervene when necessary.
  • Grade and correct student assignments.
  • Assign students relevant materials during their session.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure all students' instruction needs are met.
  • Regularly monitor and assess own performance to make improvements.
