About the Role
The Aboriginal Family Violence Legal Service (AFVLS) is a program of Djirra, a leading organization dedicated to making a difference in the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Senior Lawyer to join our team.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide legal services, including advice, representation, and advocacy, in areas such as child protection, family violence intervention orders, family law, and victims of crime assistance.
- Supervise legal and non-legal work undertaken by Lawyers and Paralegal Support Workers.
- Work collaboratively with a passionate and dedicated team to provide culturally safe, trauma-informed, holistic, and intensive client services.
Requirements
- A Victorian Employees Working With Children's Check card.
- A Police Check.
- A Driver's License.
- Eligibility to hold a legal practicing certificate in Victoria.
- A degree in law.
Desirable Qualifications
- At least one year of practical experience in a community legal, family violence, or justice-related setting.
