Key Role: Speech Pathologist

Job Overview:

This is a key role for a skilled Speech Pathologist to work with families, educators, and community partners to deliver family-centred, culturally responsive services. You will support children aged 0-9 with developmental delay or disability to reach their full potential in the Torres Strait Islands and Northern Peninsula Area (NPA). The ideal candidate will have experience or interest in early childhood development and disability, willingness and enthusiasm to travel regularly to remote areas, and commitment to culturally safe and family-centred practice.

Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will:

  • Work as part of a supportive team to deliver family-centred, culturally responsive services.
  • Support children aged 0-9 with developmental delay or disability to reach their full potential.
  • Travel to and work in the Torres Strait Islands and NPA, including remote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
  • Collaborate with families, educators, and community partners to provide assessment, early intervention, and capacity building.
Required Skills and Qualifications:

To be successful in this role you will need:

  • Experience or interest in early childhood development and disability.
  • Willingness and enthusiasm to travel regularly to remote areas.
  • Commitment to culturally safe and family-centred practice.
