We believe that fostering the right culture alongside innovative technology is essential for meeting demand and ensuring reliability for our clients.

Role Overview

We are seeking a seasoned Traffic Lead / Traffic Manager to play a crucial role within our project team. This position is vital for maintaining safety throughout all phases of the project, encompassing the design, implementation, and coordination of traffic management strategies, diversions, and flow management.

Project Insight

The Swan River Crossings Project stands as one of the most intricate and demanding undertakings by Main Roads WA, integrating various elements such as roadways, ports, freight, waterways, pedestrian pathways, cycling routes, and environmental considerations.

This initiative aims to replace the outdated Fremantle Traffic Bridge with Australia's inaugural extradosed bridge, featuring both cantilevers and cable support, thereby creating a striking entryway to Fremantle.

The Fremantle Bridges Alliance, comprising Arup, WSP, and Laing O'Rourke, is tasked with the design and execution of this project in collaboration with Main Roads WA.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the safety of the construction workforce through effective traffic management plans and control measures during construction activities.
  • Uphold and promote compliance with Laing O'Rourke's health, safety, and environmental policies.
  • Evaluate the environmental implications of proposed construction activities and verify adherence to engineering standards.
  • Oversee all traffic management aspects of the project, including leading a team of internal and external resources to prepare and secure approval for Traffic Management Plans.
  • Guarantee that all site operations align with approved designs and comply with road safety regulations and audits.
  • Provide on-site engineering expertise and technical support to ensure traffic management planning, execution, and maintenance are conducted within established guidelines.
  • Conduct job planning and scheduling with minimal disruption to the surrounding road network for various construction activities.
  • Manage the traffic management budget and forecasts, including costs for traffic controllers, temporary barriers, signage, pavement markings, and road safety audits.
  • Supervise subcontractors in the development of staging plans and traffic guidance schemes.
  • Act as the primary contact for stakeholders regarding traffic impacts from major closures to ensure smooth project delivery.
  • Plan and execute all traffic switches, including organizing barrier movements, line marking adjustments, and signage updates.
  • Prepare monthly and weekly progress reports.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience in a similar traffic management role.
  • Proven track record in leading and managing multiple large-scale road projects characterized by high traffic volumes and complex logistical challenges.
  • A strong commitment to safety and the ability to solve problems effectively while maintaining excellent organizational skills.
  • Leadership qualities that foster collaboration across departments to achieve optimal project outcomes.
  • Exceptional communication skills and a solid understanding of traffic management issues, enabling effective interaction with local road authorities and stakeholders.

Employee Benefits:

We strive to cultivate an environment that maximizes the potential of our workforce. Our commitment to career development is reflected in our safe, connected, and innovative culture that encourages continuous growth. We offer industry-leading benefits, including specialized learning and development programs, mental health and wellbeing initiatives, a comprehensive paid parental leave policy, an option for additional purchased leave, and coaching programs for staff on parental leave.
