Job Description

CellCarta is hiring a Laboratory Technician to join our dynamic team. This role offers the opportunity to utilize your expertise and skills to ensure that our services meet the highest industry standards.

This is a key position in our organization, responsible for receiving, logging, inventorying and labeling samples as well as reagents and materials in compliance with laboratory standards, safety protocols, and quality assurance requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Receive, label, log, and store samples and reagents per SOPs and LIMS.
  • Ensure appropriate storage conditions and manage storage space across temperature ranges.
  • Maintain chain of custody and verify delivery/shipment conditions, reporting discrepancies.
  • Prepare shipments and execute/document sample destruction.
  • Support lab operations: sample preparation e.g., cell isolation from blood samples, cryopreservation, thawing and counting. Perform solution/reagent preparation.
  • Support equipment maintenance, inventory, and file archiving.
Requirements
  • Diploma in Laboratory Sciences.
  • 1 year experience in a laboratory an asset.
  • Experience working in a biological safety cabinet under sterile conditions.
  • Experience with PBMC (isolation by Ficoll or CPT, cryopreservation, thawing, counting with hemocytometer) an asset.
  • Experience in a GLP/GCLP environment an asset.
  • Organized and rigorous in the conduct of their work.
  • Good record keeping skills and attention to detail.
  • Dynamic and motivated.
Working Conditions
  • 100% onsite.
  • Fixed schedule of Tuesday to Saturday shift from 9:00AM to 17:00 PM.
  • Must accept to perform activities in a Biosafety Level (BSL) 1 or 2 laboratory where biological samples may be either naturally or experimentally infected with potentially hazardous viruses such as HIV, HCV, or CMV.
