Job Description

We are seeking a visionary leader to oversee our Strategic Communications team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and delivering organisation-wide communication strategies, ensuring consistency and quality across all internal and external communications.

This role requires a deep understanding of the Australian energy market and the complex political environment in which we operate. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in strategic communications and engagement activities, preferably within a government or regulatory environment.

  • Key Responsibilities:
    • Oversee the integration of the Strategic Communication team's diverse skills to anticipate and deliver consistent, quality internal and external communications.
    • Ensure the work of the Strategic Communication team is coordinated, prioritised, resourced, aligned and performed to the appropriate standard.
    • Lead the development and delivery of organisation wide communication, public information management and stakeholder engagement strategies; policies and plans to strengthen ongoing consultation; reporting and evaluation to support the AER Strategic Plan.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will require:

Knowledge of Australian energy markets; the role, purpose and objectives of the AER and the complex political and stakeholder environment within which the AER operates.

Substantial knowledge and demonstrated senior leadership experience across all strategic communications and engagement activities, preferably within a government and/or regulatory environment.

Demonstrated experience leading a team or similar role in a fast-paced and large complex people-centred organisation.

Tertiary qualifications in relevant field(s) or a relevant field or equivalent industry experience.
