English Language Teacher Role

Bardia Public School is seeking a dedicated English language teacher to join our team. Our school is committed to delivering excellence in literacy and numeracy through explicit teaching methods.

We are a large K-6 school located in South Western Sydney, proudly situated on Dharawal country. Our engaging curriculum is designed to ignite students' passions, offering various extracurricular activities that inspire them to explore and develop their interests.

Approximately 68% of our students come from diverse linguistic backgrounds, with additional support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and those with additional learning needs in four support unit classes. We have innovative learning hubs that enable all classrooms to engage in team teaching and flexible learning spaces for high-quality curriculum delivery.

We value collaboration and take a team approach to differentiated learning, including High Potential and Gifted Education and Deadly Burray's initiatives. By prioritizing student wellbeing and fostering a school culture of high expectations, we aim to advance educational outcomes and promote a more equitable society.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Approval to teach primary English as an additional language or dialect (EAL/D) or currently undertaking/enrolled in EAL/D qualifications approved by the NSW Department of Education.
  • Developing and implementing effective differentiated teaching and learning EAL/D programs to maximize learner outcomes.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to guide teachers on using EAL/D Learning Progressions and collaborating with staff on whole-school data collection and reporting practices.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to the NSW Department of Education's Aboriginal Education policy.

Selection Criteria:

  1. Approval to teach English as an additional language or dialect (EAL/D).
  2. Demonstrated ability to develop and implement effective differentiated teaching and learning EAL/D programs.
  3. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  4. Knowledge of and commitment to the NSW Department of Education's Aboriginal Education policy.

Conditions:

An unconditional full approval to teach is required. Applicants must include details of their WWCC clearance number in their application.
