A key focus area for our team is ensuring the reliability and safety of energy supply. This involves developing and implementing operational systems and processes that meet market rules and regulatory requirements.

Our Market Management group oversees metering, settlement, and prudential functions for gas and electricity markets across various regions. As part of the broader Operations division, we work on building and operating systems to receive and validate meter data, generate timely settlement statements, settle markets, and monitor prudential positions.

About The Role
  • The Senior Commercial/Regulatory Analyst role sits within the Prudentials team with primary responsibilities including:
  • Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to influence process design and deliver operational tools that enhance efficiency in the Prudentials function.
  • Preparing reports and supporting AEMO's written regulatory submissions and market consultation. Ability to represent/present AEMO positions at industry forums.
  • Ensuring internal operational processes align with market rules and daily/weekly/monthly production cycles.
  • Contributing to the delivery of industry reform projects through interpretation of market rules and subsequent design and development of systems and processes.

Effective communication and collaboration are essential, as you will be working closely with internal stakeholders and serving as a key contact point for industry participants regarding prudentials and rule-based queries.

About You
  • Minimum required degree qualification in a relevant field (economics, commerce, finance, or information systems).
  • Strong related work experience in the Energy industry, with consideration given to relevant (Commercial/Regulatory/Legal) experience in related industries such as utilities.
  • Excellent written interpretation and problem-solving skills, with ability to draw and articulate conclusions from a range of data and rule inputs.
  • Experience operating in a legal, compliance, and rules-based setting.
  • Solid understanding of energy market structure, NEM, WEM, or gas markets with knowledge of settlement or prudentials processes an advantage.
