Community Outreach Coordinator

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Community Outreach Coordinator to join our team in the Newcastle and Greater Hunter Area.

This part-time role, working 3 days a week, offers flexibility with the opportunity to work on evenings and weekends to support events and organisational activities.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing opportunities and activities for the local Defence community to connect and engage through sport and recreation, ensuring the implementation and delivery of our community engagement strategy.

  • Developing and implementing strategies to engage local veterans and their families and the networks/organisations who support them in local sporting communities.
  • Organising and hosting regular events for veterans and their families to connect with local sporting communities.
  • Building strong connections and collaborating with the defence and veteran communities, all levels of government in the area, key stakeholders including sport organisations, ex-service organisations, ADF bases, Wellbeing Centres and corporate partners.
  • Identifying the needs of veterans and their families in the local community and connecting them with local sport and recreation communities.
  • Promoting our programs and initiatives to increase awareness and participation.
  • Maintaining accurate records and reporting on the progress and impact of engagement activities.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Demonstrated experience in community engagement, stakeholder management or veteran support services.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and connect with a diverse range of people.
  • Excellent organisational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Deep understanding of the unique challenges faced by veterans and their families.
  • Passion for supporting the veteran community and promoting their wellbeing.
  • Willingness to work collaboratively as part of a team and contribute to the overall success.
