Staff Auditor Job Description

We are seeking a talented individual to fill a key role within our organization.

This position will be based in Melbourne and is a full-time, hybrid opportunity that requires working at least three days a week in the office.

As a Staff Auditor, you will be responsible for conducting audits to evaluate internal control systems and ensure compliance with established policies and procedures.

You will review financial records and documents, analyze financial data, and provide reports and recommendations to management.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting supervisors and senior auditors in planning audits, including scope creation, preliminary fact gathering, and reviewing materials.
  • Conducting interviews with auditees, preparing notes for review, and developing a detailed understanding of the entity's operations and industry standards.
  • Evaluating procedures and documentation in internal financial and operating control systems, determining compliance with corporate policies and assessing risk.
  • Analyzing findings, formulating opinions, and developing recommendations, participating in presentations to local management.

Additionally, you will:

  • Complete electronic work papers for review and assist in drafting audit report findings, participating in closing meetings to explain findings and ratings.
  • Travel occasionally (approximately 25% per annum), including international engagements.

To be successful in this role, you must possess:

  • An undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related business field.
  • At least two to three years of audit experience (internal audit experience is highly valued).
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, along with strong interpersonal skills and excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • A willingness to continuously learn and develop your skills.
