Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Aboriginal Education Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will provide support and assistance to Aboriginal students, their parents/guardians, teachers, and the community through the knowledge and sharing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture.

About the Role

The Aboriginal Education Specialist will be responsible for enabling Aboriginal students to succeed as Aboriginal people. This will involve providing a safe and supportive environment for Aboriginal students, working with families and local communities to establish positive relationships, and assisting teachers in implementing educational programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide support and guidance to Aboriginal students and their families
  • Develop and implement educational programs that promote Aboriginal culture and well-being
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and other professionals to achieve successful outcomes for students
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with local communities and families

Requirements

  • Demonstrated good written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students, teachers, parents, community members, and professional staff
  • Demonstrated good interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact on a range of levels in a variety of settings
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to a school-level team and provide multicultural direction
