Aboriginal Child Protection Caseworker: A Meaningful Career

The role involves assisting families in identifying and addressing safety and well-being concerns, providing appropriate support through home visits.

Safety Planning and Risk Assessments: Develop and implement comprehensive safety plans, conducting thorough risk assessments to ensure the protection of vulnerable children and young people.

Case Management: Manage cases and situations involving high needs and high-risk clients and their families, utilizing effective communication and interpersonal skills to build trust and foster cooperation.

Court Processes: Participate in court proceedings, preparing documents and attending hearings as required, ensuring the best interests of the child are represented at all times.

Supervision and Support: Engage in regular individual and group supervision, receiving guidance and feedback to enhance professional growth and development.

Key Requirements:
  • Confident and compassionate, with excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • A relevant diploma or degree qualification (or equivalent experience)
  • Ability to work collaboratively and think critically in complex situations
  • A valid driver's license and a paid Working with Children clearance number
  • Documented verification of Aboriginality
