Protective Caseworker Role

\

This role is crucial in safeguarding children and ensuring their well-being.

\

As a caseworker, you will be responsible for assessing and responding to safety concerns surrounding vulnerable children or young people.

\
  • Engage with families and support participation in Pregnancy Family Conferencing.
  • Collaborate with other agencies to address complex problems.
  • Travel across the region as required to support cases.
  • Develop and maintain networks with key stakeholders, particularly NSW Health staff.
  • Work collaboratively with NSW Health on promoting and implementing the Pregnancy Family Conferencing Model.
  • Conduct assessments and investigations to identify and address safety and risk concerns for children after birth.
  • Advocate for and support families to participate in meetings such as Pregnancy Family Conferences or hospital complex case meetings.
  • Develop safety plans and complete risk assessments.
  • Manage cases and situations including working with high-risk clients and their families.
  • Participate in individual and group supervision.
\Key Responsibilities:\
  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Social Work, Social Science, Welfare or related field.
  • Preferred experience working as a Midwife, Nurse, or with expectant parents, or experience with NSW Health.
  • Experience in child protection assessment and case planning.
  • Aboriginal applicants with suitable experience are encouraged to apply.
  • Ability to engage with families and support participation in Pregnancy Family Conferencing.
  • Experience engaging with and supporting change in vulnerable clients while navigating complex systems.
  • Strong relationships and stakeholder engagement, particularly with NSW Health.
  • Valid driver's licence and paid Working with Children clearance number.

This role requires empathy, strong communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
