Job Overview

Brighton Grammar School is seeking a highly skilled Outdoor Education Program Coordinator to join our team. This is a full-time, fixed-term position from January to October 2025.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring all allocated outdoor education programs are planned and implemented efficiently and safely throughout the year. This includes preparing program outlines, managing logistics, organising equipment, determining staffing requirements, and managing staff in the field. Additionally, you will be responsible for students' safety and well-being while on program.

Main Responsibilities
  • Program Planning: Prepare program outlines for all centre and journey programs in consultation with the Assistant Head of Outdoor Education, paying particular attention to required curriculum outcomes.
  • Logistics Management: Manage general program logistics, including booking transport, coordinating/booking hire vehicles, program sites, activity sites, and accommodation as required.
  • Equipment Organisation: Organise/order the required food, equipment, and other specific requirements per program, communicating orders to external providers where applicable.
  • Staffing Requirements: Determine staffing requirements for each centre and journey program and advise the Assistant Head of Outdoor Education to ensure activity supervision ratios are met through the recruitment of additional staff if required.
  • Communication and Liaison: Liaise with teaching and non-teaching colleagues, parents, and student bodies in a proactive and positive manner to further the philosophy and direction of the outdoor education department within the wider school body.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • Qualifications: Qualifications relevant to the delivery and evaluation of Outdoor Education programs, or similar, with a minimum Diploma of Outdoor Recreation.
  • Experience: Demonstrated experience creating and delivering Outdoor Education programs working in a school context is essential.
  • Leadership Skills: Experience leading groups of mixed ability and aged children, with an understanding of adolescent and childhood behaviour management.
  • Interpersonal Skills: High levels of interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to inspire others.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient computing skills in standard Microsoft office applications and use of ICT in relation to Outdoor Education.
Estimated Salary Range

$65,000 - $80,000 per annum (dependent on experience).
