Job Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced officer to lead a new team in our Legislation Branch.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to design and establish a new team from the ground-up, providing strategic support to the Assistant Secretary, Legislation. The team will be responsible for managing the whole of portfolio legislative program, ensuring a strategic approach is taken to delivering on Ministers' legislative priorities.

The successful candidate will have experience in legislation strategy, project management, coordination, and stakeholder engagement. They will also have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the legislative bids process and prioritise legislative proposals;
  • Engage with stakeholders, including the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, the Office of Parliamentary Counsel, and Ministers' Offices;
  • Draft corporate instruments, such as delegations, authorisations, and appointments;
  • Report on the status of the portfolio's legislative program to internal and external stakeholders;
  • Engage with and coordinate responses to Parliamentary committees.
