Job Opportunity:

A 550 cow dairy farm in South Gippsland is seeking an experienced and self-motivated dairy farm manager or couple to lead its daily operations.

The farm spans 223 hectares and supports a split calving herd, with good infrastructure including a 42-unit rotary milking system with auto ID and auto draft.

A new 50-unit dairy unit with cup removers and auto teat spray is currently under construction and expected to be operational soon.

A comfortable three-bedroom home is provided for the successful candidate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the dairy farm, ensuring efficient milk production and high cattle health standards.
  • Oversee the health and well-being of the cattle, implementing strategies for their welfare and productivity.
  • Maintain high-quality milk production through regular monitoring and quality control measures.
  • Monitor and control expenses to ensure financial sustainability.
  • Develop and implement strategies for farm improvement, leveraging expertise and best practices in the industry.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in dairy farming management, preferably with a degree in agriculture or related field.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, enabling effective team collaboration and stakeholder engagement.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, adapting to changing circumstances and priorities.
