About the Role

This role provides specialist engineering expertise in the maintenance, design, construction, upgrades, and modifications of the 25kV Traction Power System. It is responsible for monitoring and reviewing system performance, planning and scheduling maintenance activities, and ensuring compliance, reliability, and alignment with PTA's long-term vision.

The role also contributes to inspections, testing, modelling, and audits, delivering recommendations to support safe, reliable, and cost-effective network operations.

In addition, the position leads technical investigations, fault analysis, and commissioning of new systems and equipment, while ensuring adherence to relevant safety and industry standards.

It contributes to the development of maintenance strategies, asset performance analysis, and technical documentation, while also managing high-value projects and coordinating contractors.

With a strong focus on safety, collaboration, and continuous improvement, this role is central to ensuring the effective operation, development, and long-term sustainability of the traction power network.

  • Key Qualifications:
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering (eligible for Engineers Australia membership as a Chartered Professional Engineer) with demonstrated knowledge of high voltage protection relays, SCADA systems, and 25kV Traction Power design, construction, and maintenance in a railway environment.
  • Strong ability to quickly interpret and apply complex engineering principles, with proven experience in project and contract management within an operational setting.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills with the ability to build stakeholder relationships, supported by well-developed analytical skills to resolve complex technical and operational issues.
  • Proven organisational ability to meet agreed targets and timelines through effective planning, teamwork, and delegation.
