Electrical Power Engineering Leadership Role

The Electrical Power Engineer will lead the development and oversight of electrical power systems and components for ongoing projects.

This role requires a deep understanding of electrical engineering principles, with the ability to apply them to ensure the safety, efficiency, and reliability of power generation systems and network connections.

  • Developing and implementing electrical scopes of work across all phases of a project through to commissioning and operations.
  • Maintaining, coordinating, and expediting the procurement and construction elements for designated packages of work.
  • Identifying and resolving technical engineering issues and associated problems which may arise throughout the duration of the project.
  • Providing direction and support to site execution teams.
  • Performing overall quality control of the work (budget, schedule, plans, personnel's performance) and reporting regularly on project status.
  • Developing and monitoring key performance indicators and analysing productivity factors against program and budget.
  • Reviewing engineering deliverables and initiating appropriate corrective actions.
  • Supporting commissioning and start-up of power generation and transmission systems.
  • Providing electrical power system support to ongoing operations.

Key Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or similar discipline, with 10+ years relevant experience.
  • Proven technical expertise in designing and constructing electrical systems.
  • Experience working with network/distribution NSPs.
  • Experience with AEMO connections is advantageous.
  • Field experience in large-scale electrical installations, troubleshooting, commissioning, and construction support.
  • Knowledge of prevalent high-voltage design standards and codes including AS/NZS, IEC and IEEE standards.
  • Solid understanding of electrical protection and control systems.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Natural ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
