Job Title: Veterinary Anaesthesia Specialist

Position Overview: We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Veterinary Anaesthesia Specialist to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will work alongside leaders in veterinary anaesthesia and pain management, providing anaesthesia care to a wide range of patients. This position offers the opportunity to thrive with complex and interesting cases, from specialist procedures to emergency interventions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer and monitor anaesthesia for patients undergoing a variety of surgical and diagnostic procedures, ensuring patient safety and optimal outcomes.
  • Conduct thorough pre-anaesthetic evaluations, intraoperative monitoring, and post-anaesthetic care, maintaining accurate records of patient status and interventions.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of pain management protocols, tailoring strategies to individual patient needs.
  • Collaborate with veterinarians, specialists, students, and other nursing staff to deliver integrated care.
  • Engage in the teaching and mentoring of veterinary students and colleagues, sharing expertise in anaesthesia and pain management to foster their skills and knowledge.
  • Actively contribute to a positive team environment by collaborating with other departments and supporting the development of junior staff.

Requirements:

  • Qualification: Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing (or equivalent) is essential.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in a referral or specialist veterinary practice, with experience in Neurology, Internal Medicine, or Oncology preferred.
  • Skills: Strong technical nursing skills, including venipuncture, catheter placement, anaesthesia monitoring, and patient care.
  • Passion for Teaching: A genuine interest in educating and mentoring veterinary students, with the ability to communicate complex concepts in a clear and supportive manner.
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with veterinarians, specialists, clients, and other team members.
  • Flexibility: Ability to adapt and work efficiently across different departments in a fast-paced environment.
