About the Role:

  • The ideal candidate will be a highly skilled and experienced Emergency Medicine Physician who is looking to take on a challenging role in a regional healthcare setting.
  • Fellowship or eligible fellowship of the Australasian College of Emergency Medicine (ACEM) is a requirement, or applicants must have been assessed by ACEM College as Substantially comparable.
  • International Medical Graduates (IMGs) are eligible via the Competent Authority Pathway if trained in the UK, USA, NZ, Canada, or Ireland.
  • Candidates with Fellowship awarded in the next 6 months are also encouraged to apply.

About the Facility:

  • The hospital serves as the primary regional healthcare facility in the area, boasting over 200 beds and functioning as a specialized referral centre for northern Victoria.
  • With a population of around 90,000, the facility manages nearly 19,000 inpatient cases and 23,000 visits to the Emergency Department annually.

Responsibilities:

  • The successful candidate will work across 7 days, completing 38 hours (4 shifts per week).
  • Physicians/Consultants work in the department between morning and midnight, while Senior Registrars/medical practitioners cover overnight shifts, with Consultants available on call.
  • Experience a wide variety of cases from neonates to geriatrics, inclusive of trauma, resuscitation, and toxicology.

  • To succeed in this role, strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential, enabling effective problem-solving, conflict resolution, and negotiation.

  • The facility provides an extensive range of acute specialist medical and surgical services, encompassing emergency departments, critical care units, obstetrics and gynaecology, paediatrics, and aged care.
  • The facility delivers community rehabilitation, inpatient care, community services, aged care, and psycho-geriatric mental health services.
