About the Role
As a Recreational Activities Officer, you will be responsible for promoting emotional and physical wellbeing through recreational activities that meet the consumers' needs. Your primary goal will be to provide consumers with quality care and actively support them to maintain their skill level, independence, and mobility.
You will work closely with our care team to understand the consumers' needs and tailor their care plans accordingly. This will involve:
- Delivering recreational activities that cater to the diverse needs and interests of our residents
- Collaborating with the care team to develop and implement individualized care plans
- Providing emotional support and companionship to residents
- Managing challenging behaviors and developing strategies to promote positive outcomes
- Documenting resident interactions and care plans accurately and efficiently
- Maintaining a safe and high standard of practice in all aspects of your work
- Staying up-to-date with relevant industry standards and regulations, including Resident Rights and Aged Care Quality Standards
- Working in a person-centered model of care that prioritizes the unique needs and preferences of each resident
Requirements:
- Proven track record of delivering recreational activities in an aged care environment
- Passion for planning and delivering activities that promote emotional and physical wellbeing
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with residents, families, and care staff
- Experience caring for elderly consumers and managing challenging behaviors
- Strong written communication and documentation skills
- Reliability, practicality, and a commitment to maintaining a safe and high standard of practice
- Understanding of Resident Rights and Aged Care Quality Standards
- Experience working in a person-centered model of care
- Certificate 3 in Aged Care or Disability
Work Arrangements:
- Part-time or casual position available
- Work location: In-person at our facility
