Job Opportunity

A skilled professional is sought to carry out the maintenance and testing of Autonomous Underwater Vessels (AUVs) in Sydney, Australia. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliability and performance of these complex systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular inspections, repairs, refurbishments, overhauls, and upgrades of AUV electrical systems and equipment
  • Diagnose electrical issues, conduct component- and subsystem-level tests, and collaborate with engineers and other trades to resolve complex problems
  • Operate the Maintenance Management System (MMS), ensuring accurate records of maintenance activities, parts and consumables consumption
  • Execute system-level functional check-out at the conclusion of maintenance activities
  • Conduct underway sea testing of AUVs leaving factory or maintenance environments
  • Support the development, review, and trial of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and documentation for AUV maintenance activities
  • Assist with the preparation of risk assessments for maintenance and test operations, identifying and implementing mitigations
  • Provide constructive feedback to design and manufacturing teams for ongoing evolution
  • Be able to be deployed to the field to perform emergency repairs when necessary, potentially in challenging conditions or adverse weather
  • Support customer representatives in gaining skills and experience to support fielded AUVs

Requirements

  • At least 4 years' experience in the maintenance of electrical systems or components
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and hand-tool skills
  • Vocational training in electrical trades or an associate degree is ideal
  • Maritime trade background is desirable as well as subsea experience or autonomous vehicle operation (any domain); particularly electric vehicles
  • Proficiency in interpreting technical documentation (wiring diagrams, work instructions, equipment schematics etc.)
  • Experience performing component, subsystem, and system-level tests and diagnosing/escalating issues
  • Exposure to operating Maintenance Management Systems
  • Maritime qualifications are desirable but not essential
  • Extremely organized and detail-oriented
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • A sincere commitment to a positive, inclusive, and collaborative culture
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a NV2 Security Clearance
