Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to work in the strategic procurement team at UNSW, where you will play a key role in delivering value by providing safe and efficient procurement services.

As a Category Manager, you will be responsible for leading sourcing activities, developing category plans, managing contracts, and building strong supplier relationships to ensure alignment with University objectives.

  • Optimise the supply base through aggregation, bundling, consolidation, rationalisation or re-engineering for key spend categories.
  • In consultation with stakeholders, apply technology research to develop category plans and vendor strategies that improve supplier performance and deliver value for money.
  • Provide advice on complex procurement issues, including market approach, sourcing strategy, and negotiations.
  • Guide contract management practices, recommending improved tools, templates and approaches to enhance profitability and compliance.
  • Collaborate with and influence stakeholders at all levels, from the Board to Contract Managers.

You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including Procurement, Finance, and Operations, to drive business change and improve value, efficiency and productivity.
