Job Description

The Visitor Services and Events Coordinator is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the La Trobe Art Institute's public programs and events. This includes developing and implementing strategies to enhance the visitor experience and increase engagement, as well as collaborating with the curatorial team to develop and deliver public programs that align with the institute's mission and vision.

Key Requirements
  • Degree with subsequent relevant experience in event management and/or program development, ideally in an art museum or similar cultural institution.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated customer service focus and solution-oriented approach.
  • High level proficiency in computer software packages including word processing, spreadsheets, electronic mail, online survey and ticketing tools.
  • Substantial experience in the management of events within a cultural setting; incorporating all aspects from contract negotiation to successful delivery of event.
  • The ability to represent the La Trobe Art Institute in a variety of cultural settings encompassing all levels of formality.
  • Proven capacity to manage a team and physical resources.
  • Proven ability and willingness to contribute to the success of a small team; the ability to be flexible and to think creatively and laterally.
