Therapeutic Specialist Position

About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled Therapeutic Specialist to join our team in the Goldfields region. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for conducting assessments, developing and supervising therapeutic care plans, and providing ongoing practice support and training to team members.

The role offers flexible work arrangements between our office in Geelong and remote work, allowing for a great work-life balance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Champion evidence-based practices and deliver intensive therapeutic care in residential settings.
  • Facilitate regular reflective practice and clinical support sessions for direct care staff.
  • Develop and assist in implementing Behaviour Support Plans & Individual care plans for Children & Young People.
  • Undertake various assessments of Children & Young People, based on their current and ongoing needs.
  • Provide expertise and support to Child & Family Practitioners & Senior Support staff in formulating and managing Therapeutic Care Plans, ensuring purposeful supports are provided.
  • Coordinate preventative strategies to ensure continuity of care and mitigate placement breakdowns.
  • Advocate on behalf of Children & Young People by engaging agencies and organisations to support consistent therapeutic practice.
  • Complete client matching, contribute to intake assessment, and support the transition of Children & Young People into homes.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree qualifications in Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Mental Health Nursing, or related field.
  • Current registration or eligibility for registration with the professional body relevant to qualification.
  • Experience working with Children and Young People in Out-of-Home Care, ideally in an Intensive Therapeutic Care setting.
  • Experience using evidence-based assessment tools with young people exhibiting trauma-informed behaviour.
