Chief Animal Care Specialist

This role is responsible for ensuring the welfare and care of animals in our facilities, as well as providing guidance on implementing policies and procedures in compliance with local and national regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in veterinary medicine and be able to serve as a mentor to others.

• Ensure Compliance: Oversee all animal-related activities to ensure they are conducted in accordance with relevant laws, regulations, and guidelines.
• Mentorship: Provide guidance and support to junior staff members to help them develop their skills and knowledge.
• Study Director: Serve as the primary contact for clients and regulatory authorities regarding assigned studies.
• Surgical Procedures: Perform and oversee surgical procedures on animals under the direction of a licensed veterinarian.
• Diagnostic Procedures: Conduct diagnostic tests on animals to identify health issues or diseases.
• Reporting: Prepare accurate and detailed reports on animal welfare, study progress, and any other relevant information.

To be considered for this position, you must have:

• A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an accredited institution.
• Possession of a valid veterinary license to practice in the state where the facility is located.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience working with animals in a research setting.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• A strong commitment to animal welfare and research ethics.
