Ora Banda Mining is seeking an experienced Geology Technician to join our team in a core yard operations role. As a key member of our geology team, you will be responsible for providing proactive and timely support for grade control and resource definition operations.
Key Responsibilities- Perform day-to-day core yard work, including core jig-sawing, metre marking, orientation marking, core photography, density measurements, magnetic susceptibility readings, pXRF readings, core cutting or whole core sampling, QAQC inserts and sampling, geometallurgy sampling, sample despatch and paperwork, and sample transport.
- Liaise with underground drillers and escalate any core quality issues immediately to the Senior Geology Technician and Drilling Supervisor.
- Maintain high QAQC standards for drill core processing operations, including mark-up, orientation, photography, RQD, densities, sampling, etc.
- Ensure correct and accurate sample submission paperwork and carry out computer processing of the data.
- Ensure compliance at all times with the Company's QAQC procedures.
- Assist Geologists with underground mapping preparation as required, and if underground inducted, assist with underground sample despatch.
- Clean and maintain core yard racking and rollers, core-saw, geology vehicles and geology equipment, supplies and other services.
- Data entry and other computer tasks.
- Other duties as required.
To be considered for this role, you will have the following qualifications, skills and experience:
- Previous relevant grade control core yard experience is highly regarded.
- Previous underground or pit technician experience is desirable.
- Ability to work effectively within a team.
- Good communication skills – written and oral.
- Computing skills.
- Ability to work unsupervised.
- Must have a strong safety focus.
- Current C class manual driver's licence.
- Current High Risk Work Licence (Forklift truck).
- Current First Aid certificate.
- ERT experience and willingness to join OBM's ERT is preferred.
