About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated IT Support Specialist to join our team at Surf Life Saving Australia. As a key member of our IT department, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliability and quality of our ICT infrastructure and application databases.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and manage Windows Desktop and Apple Mac environments to ensure system reliability and performance.
  • Provide technical support across all computing devices, handling inquiries and escalating as needed.
  • Configure, maintain and implement security measures to protect systems.
  • Set up and monitor on-site infrastructure and maintain Standard Operating Environment (SOE) on laptops/desktops.
  • Conduct regular checks and preventive maintenance tasks to proactively address potential issues.
  • Collaborate on hands-on projects (e.g. system upgrades, migrations).
  • Maintain an effective asset register for all IT equipment.
  • Oversee Office 365 services and licenses.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot Active Directory services. Assist with VPN setup and maintenance.
  • Ensure the smooth operation and maintenance of SLSA applications, providing timely support and troubleshooting to resolve any issues.
  • Carry out acceptance testing for changes to SLSA systems.
  • Contribute to overall ICT strategy, including systems, architecture, and infrastructure.
  • Assist in implementing infrastructure changes and new initiatives.
  • Coordinate with external providers for software, hardware, and hosting deliverables.
  • Work closely with ICT Manager, ICT Architect, ICT Operations Team Leader, and Senior Systems Administration staff.
Requirements
  • Tertiary qualifications or equivalent relevant experience in supporting computer systems.
  • A current Australian Drivers Licence.
  • Interest in technical aspects of solution architecture, infrastructure management, and database administration.
  • Experience managing ICT systems, both locally and across geographically dispersed organisations.
  • Ability to provide technical advice related to business processes.
  • Outstanding organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent time and resource management abilities.
  • Skill in translating technical information for non-technical audiences.
  • Passion for staying up to date with ICT trends.
  • Broad knowledge of smart device applications, websites, social media, electronic communications, and traditional web-based applications.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities.
  • High-level negotiation and communication skills.
  • Autonomy in meeting deadlines.
  • Motivated and enthusiastic, with a commitment to helping others.
  • Flexible approach to work hours.
  • A vehicle or access to a vehicle to travel between offices as required.
  • Willingness to participate in an After Hours On-Call support roster.
