Job Description:

Hockey Australia is the national governing body for the sport of Hockey. We aim to drive participation by offering contemporary opportunities to play the game and through the delivery of world class events.

The Media Manager plays a key role in achieving our strategic goals and supporting other departments through proactive media engagement, public relations and stakeholder communications.

  • Main Responsibilities
  • Media Relations:Build strong relationships with media outlets to increase local, national and international coverage.
  • Content Production:Create and distribute media releases, alerts, guides, match reports and analytics across all areas.
  • Corporate Channels:Manage social media channels with timely campaign-aligned content for media and stakeholders.
  • Integrated Communications:Collaborate with the Digital & Comms team to align media activity with the content calendar and digital platforms.
  • Team Media Support:Support athletes at international events.
Key Requirements:

Tertiary qualification in media, communications, public relations or journalism and 5-10 years of experience in media relations and/or public relations.

Strong network of media contacts and outstanding written and verbal communication skills.

  • Understanding of media monitoring and coverage metrics
  • Able to identify and pitch stories that media will want to publish
