We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our Finance Team as a Cadet Accountant. This exciting opportunity will provide the successful candidate with hands-on experience in local government finance, allowing them to develop practical skills and knowledge in a dynamic environment.

The role will involve assisting with maintaining the accuracy and integrity of Council's financial ledgers, supporting treasury functions, cash management, and statutory reporting. You will also help prepare Council's annual budget and monthly financial performance reports, process general ledger journals, and maintain asset register data.

  • Assist with internal and external audit activities
  • Provide support across finance areas including Accounts Payable, Receivable, Treasury, Taxation, and Rates
  • Undertake other duties as directed by the Team Leader Financial Processes

The ideal candidate will possess good attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to meet deadlines. They will also have basic proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and email, as well as good interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Motivation and eagerness to learn, with interest in local government finance, is essential.
