Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Associate with 3 to 5 years of post-qualification experience (PQE) to enhance our dynamic Commercial Litigation and Insolvency team.

Role Responsibilities
As an Associate, you will manage a diverse range of stimulating and complex commercial litigation and insolvency cases. Our clientele includes publicly traded corporations, leading insolvency firms, and family-owned enterprises.
Your responsibilities will encompass advising clients, briefing and instructing counsel, and actively participating in various commercial litigation and insolvency matters. This includes:
- Complex commercial litigation
- Building and construction disputes, including matters under the Security of Payment Act
- Property disputes
- Shareholder, partnership, and franchise disputes
- Debt recovery, including intricate debt recovery proceedings
Additionally, you will be involved in front-end and back-end insolvency matters, advising insolvency practitioners throughout the external administration process, and representing clients in proceedings related to voidable transactions, claims against former company officers, public examinations, and fee approval applications.
Expect to gain invaluable experience by managing bankruptcy proceedings and participating in various disputes within the New South Wales Civil and Administrative Tribunal.
Candidate Profile
- 3-5 years PQE in commercial litigation and insolvency, gained as a paralegal or post-study.
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Commercial insight and confidence in cultivating robust client relationships, with a keen understanding of their unique business requirements.
- Exceptional technical, analytical, communication, and research skills to provide commercially sound advice.
- Proactive in identifying and addressing potential challenges, ensuring clients are well-prepared throughout the litigation process.
- Meticulous attention to detail in evidence preparation, court document drafting, and client advisement.
- Familiarity with civil procedure rules in Federal and NSW Courts, rules of evidence, and the Building and Construction Industry Security of Payment Act 1999, including the adjudication process.
- Proven ability to effectively brief and instruct counsel, facilitating interactions to achieve favorable outcomes.
- Commitment to continuous professional development, focusing on enhancing expertise in insolvency law and practice.
