School Counsellor

This is a dynamic and challenging opportunity to join the West Moreton Anglican College community as a School Counsellor. As a key member of the Counselling and Wellbeing team, you will play a vital role in supporting the psycho-social skills of our students and promoting mental health and wellbeing.

• Counselling and Support: Provide individual and group counselling sessions to students who are struggling with mental health challenges, and consult with external professionals as necessary.
• Student Identification and Management: Identify and manage students with emotional and behavioural disorders, and provide recommendations for support from external specialists when required.
• Mental Health Promotion: Develop and implement programs to promote positive mental health, wellbeing, and resilience among students.
• Collaboration with Teachers: Work closely with teaching staff to identify, understand, and manage students with emotional and behavioural difficulties.
• Parent Liaison: Liaise with parents regarding referral and ongoing management of their child's mental health and wellbeing.
• Professional Development: Participate in ongoing professional development to stay up-to-date with best practices in school counselling and mental health.

• Qualifications: Tertiary qualification in counselling, psychology, social work, or a related discipline.
• Experience: Experience working in a similar role in a school-based environment.
• Skills: Expertise in identification, formulation, and counselling of students; ability to develop positive, professional relationships with students, parents, and staff; and well-developed communication and interpersonal skills.
