Yard & Warehouse Assistant

We are seeking a reliable and safety-conscious team member to assist in the movement of products within our warehouse and yard. The successful candidate will be responsible for safely operating a forklift, performing material handling activities, and maintaining a clean work environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate a forklift and perform various material handling tasks
  • Count, weigh, sort, load, and unload materials as required
  • Receive and allocate incoming materials to designated areas
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace, including sweeping floors and removing debris
  • Accurately load vehicles for outgoing deliveries
  • Monitor stock levels and notify supervisors when minimum thresholds are reached
  • Report any damage or loss of stock
  • Develop product knowledge and stay up-to-date on new materials and processes
  • Collaborate with other departments and locations to fulfill customer orders
  • Complete work orders and receiving documents accurately and efficiently
  • Ensure a safe working environment by following all relevant health and safety protocols

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Ability to establish priorities and accomplish multiple tasks with minimal supervision
  • Team player with excellent communication skills
  • Previous experience with building materials is desirable but not essential
  • Able to lift/move heavy materials (up to 25kg) on occasion
  • Minimum of one year experience in a warehouse/yard position is desirable but not essential
  • Forklift experience is highly desired
  • Basic math functions and ability to read/write
