Staff Specialist - Child and Adolescent Psychiatry

Job Description

The role of a Staff Specialist in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry is to provide specialist services to children and adolescents, including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of mental health conditions. This position offers the opportunity to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement effective treatment plans.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct assessments, diagnoses, and treatments for mental health conditions affecting children and adolescents
  • Work closely with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized treatment plans
  • Provide high-quality clinical services to meet the needs of this vulnerable population
  • Participate in teaching, research, and quality improvement activities to advance the field of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
Requirements
  • Eligible for registration as a Specialist Psychiatrist with the Medical Board of Australia
  • Demonstrated recent clinical experience in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
  • Fellowship of the RANZCP or equivalent
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment
Preferred Requirements
  • Experience working with children and adolescents with complex mental health needs
  • Skills in psychotherapeutic approaches and psychotropic medications
  • Able to adapt to changing priorities and requirements

Please note that Australian citizenship or permanent residency is required for this role.
