Motor Mechanic Job Description

The primary role of the Motor Mechanic is to conduct routine servicing, maintenance, and mechanical repairs on petrol and diesel vehicles. This includes diagnosing faults using electronic and manual diagnostic tools and performing roadworthy checks.

  • Conducting routine servicing, maintenance, and mechanical repairs on petrol and diesel vehicles.
  • Diagnosing faults using electronic and manual diagnostic tools.
  • Inspecting and overhauling engines, gearboxes, brake systems, and suspension components.
  • Performing roadworthy checks, safety inspections, and compliance testing.
  • Replacing worn or damaged parts, including clutches, timing belts, water pumps, and batteries.
  • Carrying out tyre rotations, balancing, and alignments (training provided if required).
  • Completing service reports, updating job cards, and maintaining accurate service records.
  • Working safely in line with occupational health and safety (OHS) standards.
  • Assisting team members and delivering great service to customers and fleet accounts.
Requirements
  • Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology (or equivalent trade qualification).
  • At least 3 years' post-qualification experience as a Motor Mechanic.
  • Solid understanding of mechanical, electrical, and fuel systems in light vehicles.
  • Familiarity with diagnostic scan tools and workshop equipment.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to safety and service quality.
