Plant Manager Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Plant Manager to oversee the operational management of our Resin Plant. This is a key leadership role that requires a strong focus on safety, compliance, and efficiency.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a team of operations professionals and driving production performance through the implementation of KPIs and continuous improvement programs. They will also be accountable for ensuring plant operations are fully compliant with all relevant regulations and company policies.

  • Operational Leadership: Oversee all day-to-day operations of the plant, ensuring production targets are met in alignment with quality, safety, cost, and customer service standards.
  • Safety and Compliance: Ensure plant operations are fully compliant with all Company policies and relevant statutory regulations. Champion a strong safety culture and lead site-based safety initiatives.
  • Production Performance: Drive manufacturing performance through the implementation of KPIs and continuous improvement programs. Monitor and optimize plant performance across OTIF, yield, quality, inventory, waste, and unit cost metrics.
  • People Development: Lead, coach, and develop a diverse operations team. Manage staffing, performance, training, and employee engagement to build a high-performance culture across the plant.
  • Financial Management: Develop and manage operating budgets for the plant. Identify cost-saving opportunities and ensure adherence to financial controls and reporting requirements.
  • Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with Engineering, Supply Chain, Technical, Safety, and Commercial teams to ensure aligned plant operations and timely resolution of technical and quality issues.
  • Strategic Planning and Improvement: Identify and implement medium- to long-term strategies to increase plant capability, reduce waste, and improve operational flexibility. Lead Lean and Six Sigma initiatives for continuous improvement.

Key Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 7–10 years of progressive experience in manufacturing, with at least 3 years in a plant or operations management role, preferably in chemical or resin manufacturing.
  • Strong knowledge of resin or chemical process technology, modern manufacturing practices, and safety regulations.
  • Proven track record in leading teams, managing budgets, and delivering operational excellence.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience managing a unionized workforce is preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong analytical, planning, and decision-making capabilities.
