About the Opportunity
This leadership role focuses on guiding midwifery education within the Postgraduate Diploma of Midwifery. The successful candidate will collaborate with health service partners to develop and lead midwifery programs aimed at strengthening Tasmania’s and Australia’s midwifery workforce. The position also involves contributing to health services research and/or innovative teaching practices to improve health outcomes. A key aspect of the role is fostering a collaborative and productive academic culture aligned with the University’s vision. The successful applicant will have the option for full-time or part-time work.
What’s Required
- A PhD (Level E) or equivalent (Level D) in Midwifery or an equivalent field.
- A strong clinical background with a track record in industry engagement and professional experience relevant as a midwife.
- Demonstrated capacity to influence policy and or work closely with key stakeholder groups.
- Extensive experience and demonstrated achievement in university-level teaching and learning.
- A substantial record in, and continuing commitment to, research that has achieved international/national recognition and made innovative and sustained contributions to the field of Midwifery.
- Proven ability as an academic leader, with a record in team building and creating effective working relationships, and capacity to foster excellence in research and teaching.
- A demonstrated capacity to build and maintain effective and productive links locally, nationally and internationally.
- Significant experience in the accreditation of Midwifery pre-registration degree with the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
Qualifications and Licences
- Registration as a Midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA)
- A PhD (Level E essential), or Masters in a relevant midwifery health field.
- Current Working with Vulnerable People registration (or to be obtained)
- Current ‘C’ class driver’s licence or manual vehicle licence
Appointment to this role will be at Academic Level D or E, with a total remuneration package ranging from $194,236 to $244,987, inclusive of 17% superannuation.
